Whether you have just entered your first Ironman or you are an experienced age group athlete looking to represent Great Britain in the future, I can help you achieve your goals. Combining over 27 years of competitive triathlon experience with coaching qualifications from Lancaster University, Triathlon England and City College, Manchester you can be assured that the coaching I provide is pragmatic, realistic and based on the latest sports science. Over the past 17 years I have successfully coached over 60 athletes of differing abilities and experience developing my own training philosophy along the way. In 2016 I supported over 16 athletes to fulfil their Ironman dreams. Profiles of some of the athletes I currently coach can be found here.
Bespoke training plans:
These training plans are totally personalised and written specifically for you, taking into account your current level of fitness, experience and the time you have available to train. The training plans are delivered to you via Training Peaks, the world’s premier online coaching software. Each week you will receive up to 12 sessions of swimming, cycling and running. All of these sessions are progressive, interesting, challenging and are written with the aim of helping you achieve your goals. Full details of coaching offer, including costs can be found here.
Professional swim coaching:
These sessions can be delivered either 1-1 or in groups of up to 4. Using both underwater and overhead video footage and radio headsets these session will help identify errors in your swim stroke. Following the video session a 1-1 analysis review meeting will be held to discuss the results and a complete set of specific swim drills and example swim sessions will be provided. Monday 8.00pm – 9.00pm and Thursdays 8.45pm-9.45pm in Bolton. These sessions are aimed at those swimmers looking for professional swim coaching in a friendly and informal setting. Numbers are limited to ensure that the lanes do not get too crowded. The session is suitable for all levels of swimmer. Full details can be found here. Examples of the swim sets can be found here.
Bike threshold testing:
This is an indoor session aimed at establishing both your personal threshold heart rate and your Functional Threshold Power (ftp)
The session consists of a 45 minute turbo session test using a Wahoo Kickr linked with Zwift online software. This is followed by 1-1 feedback session and written report example here threshold-test-data
