How long have you been involved in triathlon?
Took a break from running after an injury in 2007 and started playing golf. Decided I was too energetic for that and did my first Sprint Triathlon in 2010.
Why did you decide to get a coach?
To take the guess work out of training, planning for events and worrying if I was doing too much or not enough.
How did you hear about Peak XV coaching?
I have been aware of Peak XV for some time. I know Garrie and some of his athletes and I have seen the improvements they have made.
How has being coached changed the way you train?
It has added structure and replaced my training regime which was based on written advice from books or blogs with tailored plans which are based on my abilities, limitations and goals.
How would you describe the coaching that you have received since joining Peak XV?
Excellent. Work and family commitments means I find it difficult to get to the training sessions but I receive tailored training plans weekly which I complete and return my training data and comments back to Peak XV. At first I found it difficult not to over train. I would sucome to my old habits and fit in another session when it wasn’t needed or doing me any good. If you place your trust in someone with a proven track record and do what they know works then it takes the pressure off the athlete; just do the work and let the results take care of themselves.
What are your goals for 2017?
Ironman UK in July and then Helvellyn in September.
