Where does the name Peak XV come from?

Peak XV (pronounced fifteen) was the name given by explorers to the highest mountain in the world. In 1865 this mountain was renamed Everest.

What is TEST?

Test is a acronym for my coaching philosophy that I have developed over the last 20 years. More details can be found here

Do I need a coach?

People use the services of  a coach for a number of reasons.  A quick survey of opinion among current clients revealed the following as some of the main reasons:

  • To get results
  • To ensure there is direction / structure to my training

  • Get me to the start line uninjured and not over trained

How many people do you currently coach?

I limit the number of people I coach to 30. This ensures that I have the capacity to give the best attention I can to each client. I do not limit the contact I have with clients and am happy to answer any tri related questions.

Am I good enough for a coach?

Every one can benefit from coaching, whether it be to have an objective opinion, offer support when things go wrong or to set an inspiring session when needed.

How do you write the training sessions that you set?

The starting point for each training session written is you! Taking into account the time you have available, your current level of fitness and experience. At the end of each week I review your feedback on Training Peaks and also text you asking for any additional feedback. This information is then used to write the training sessions for your next week. Each session I write progresses you gradually towards your A race.

What sort of people do you coach, are they all mega fit?

I currently coach a wide variety of triathletes from absolute beginners through to age group winners. Profiles for some of my current clients can be found here

Can I see some sample training programs?

Here is an example of an athlete training for Ironman UK 2015. This is during the peak phase where she will be doing the maximum hours of training.

Am I tied into a contract?

Circumstances and priorities change.You can cancel the arrangement at any time without penalty.

What competitive experience do you have?

I have been competing in triathlon since 1990. Over the past 25 years I have completed in over 250 events across the complete range of distances. I have been fortunate to have competed in some of the world’s most iconic races. Further details of my experience can be found here

What coaching experience do you have?

I began coaching 10 years ago. Initially as club coach with Rossendale Triathlon club. More recently working with individuals. Over the past 7 years I have coached over 50 triathletes. In 2015 I supported 15 clients to complete Ironman UK. Of these, 9 were Ironman Virgins!

How much does the coaching cost and whats included ?

The cost for the Summit training plan is £60 per month. My personal goal is to bring high quality coaching at an affordable and realistic cost. Full details of whats included can be found here.
